A trail steward is a dedicated volunteer and the true caretaker of our natural area hiking trails. They are the ones who help us make sure branches are cleared before guided hikes and infrastructure is maintained.
This is a true commitment to monitor their chosen natural area or preserve a minimum of six times annually. This volunteer also commits to turning in timely reports and performing necessary maintenance. We have openings for a limited number of preserves.
Tasks include: clearing branches or fallen trees, remark trails with painted blazes, repair boardwalks or other infrastructure, recognize natural and invasive species, serve as crew leader for scheduled improvements and alert Conservancy of any perceived problems/violations.
