Come learn about volunteer trail stewardship opportunities!

Trail Scouts are trail users with an eye for detail. Working independently, you hike or bike the trails for areas that need attention and report back for our crew to make repairs.

Trail Stewards – These volunteers regularly monitor a selected Natural Area and report any trail maintenance needs, trail activity and signage needs and conduct light trail maintenance as needed.

Palmer Woods Trail Crew Lopping & Brushing Team – Meets weekly on Tuesday evenings and focus will be on keeping vegetation cut back away from the trail for clear sight lines, and ample trail clearance. Various tools used, such as shrub loppers, weed whippers, and brush blades.

Palmer Woods Trail Crew Tread & Shaping team – Meets weekly on Tuesdays and learn the skills to safely reshape the dynamic features of the flow track style trail at Palmer Woods. Multiple hand tools used and moving a lot of dirt and clay back into place throughout the trail system.
