Kehl Lake Natural Area and its environs are not only valued for their natural beauty and ecological importance, they have an interesting local and cultural history as well. Before the bunnies hide your eggs, join us for a guided hike at 10 AM on Saturday, April 16, as we talk about life in the old days. Who were the early inhabitants around Kehl Lake hundreds of years ago? When did the European settlers arrive, what did they do and what was it like in the winter in this remote part of the Leelanau Peninsula? Maybe you know things we don’t. Bert Thomas is lead docent for the hike and will be joined by docents Ann McInnes, Gloria Garrett and Karl Hausler. Watch the weather reports and dress appropriately. The trail is flat and typically dry overall but April rains and snow melt can have their effects.
