Thank you to Kay and Jim Charter at Saving Birds Thru Habitat (http://www.savingbirds.org) for hosting the 2012 Conservation Easement Landowner Gathering.
What a beautiful piece of land with so much hard work and dedication put into the restoration and invasive species removal. We took a tour of the Sanctuary and learned about the various practices used by Kay and Jim on their property to both protect bird habitat, but also remove invasive species.

Jason Kimbrough, NRCS, presented briefly on some of the programs NRCS has to offer. However, since the Farm Bill is not yet official and still being negotiated, he encourage anyone who is interested to contact him directly. The CE landowner gathering walked around the wetland on the Charter Sanctuary which was part of an NRCS program known as the Wetland Reserve Program or WRP.
