The Leelanau Conservancy is recruiting local nature enthusiasts for a new class of Docents who will lead hikes in our natural areas. This is a volunteer role.
The docent program is a critical part of the Conservancy’s outreach efforts, and being a docent involves a significant commitment. New docents commit to 30 hours of initial training which begins with 4 required trainings in April, as well as Natural Area training with our Stewardship Team, shadowing hikes with an experienced docent, first aid, and interpretation trainings are just some of the topics new docents learn about.
Applications may be submitted until March 15th to be considered for the 2023 session. Group interviews will be in late March, followed with required orientation and trainings in April 2023. We have a limited number of trainee spaces open for the 2023 class.
To apply, and for all other questions, please contact Volunteer Manager, Lindy Kellogg at [email protected].
