Sheen Watkins brings a vibrant blend of passion for nature and professional experience to her role as a Leelanau Conservancy docent. An avid birder with a keen eye for detail, Sheen thrives in the outdoors, finding beauty and wonder in every season. From spring’s wildflowers to the crisp serenity of a winter forest, and the symphony of birdsong that fills summer days, Sheen embraces the Leelanau landscape with a contagious enthusiasm.
Her love for nature extends beyond personal exploration. Sheen’s background as an Officer at Kelly Services honed her communication, financial management, team organization and leadership skills. These qualities, along with her deep appreciation for the environment, make her a valuable asset to the Leelanau Conservancy’s docent program.
Sheen is eager to share her knowledge and passion for birding and the natural world. She also contributes her talents as a photographer to the Leelanau Conservancy. Her images capture the emotion and essence of Leelanau’s beauty, further inspiring a love for nature and a commitment to its preservation. She is also a Photo Ambassador for Michigan State Parks. She and her husband, David Watkins credit Ed and Linda Ketterer for getting them involved in the Leelanau Conservancy.
