Kathy and her husband, Gene, live on one of their conserved fruit-growing farms in Northport. Gene had a lifelong commitment to keeping their farmland in agriculture, so they were delighted for the opportunity to work with our own local Conservancy to make that possible. Gardening, cycling, cross country skiing, and hiking are favorite activities.
Kathy has an MSN from Wayne State University and retired from a position as Vice President for Regional System Development and Corporate Communication for Munson Healthcare where her focus was carefully coordinated health services care for the combined northern lower 21 counties. Since her retirement, she has committed her time to serving the Leelanau community through board involvement in the Northport Area Heritage Association, the Leelanau Township Community Foundation, and the Leelanau Children’s Choir and Youth Ensemble. She and Gene are members of Northport Energy, and Kathy is active with the Dark Sky Committee of that organization. Gene is still busy growing cherries, apples, and pears.
Kathy and Gene are members of the Sustainers Circle. “The natural areas available to the public through the Conservancy are a most amazing gift for us all. We and our families and friends have many treasured memories of times together on the trails. Assuring strong financial support for day to day Conservancy operations is a critical component of a strong Conservancy.”
