Dan and his wife Kate live in Indianapolis, Indiana. Since retiring in 2020, they have been transitioning to their home on North Lake Leelanau, which was built by Dan’s grandparents nearly 100 years ago.
Dan and Kate have three children and five grandchildren that all enjoy the magic of Leelanau County.
Dan’s love of nature was first fostered when he attended a grammar school that was based around a model of “outdoor education.” Since then, Dan has loved everything outdoors. He genuinely believes that nature is the best teacher.
Dan graduated from Indiana University with degrees in finance and computer science. He spent his career leading a multi-generational insurance and risk management firm.
Dan says, “I believe deeply in LC’s mission of conserving the land, water and scenic character of Leelanau County. Leelanau County has meant so much to me and my family. I am honored to serve on the Board and hope that I can contribute in a small way to the continued success of a great organization.”
