Come to Empire for Winterfest and join the Leelanau Conservancy for a docent-led snowshoe hike at Chippewa Run Natural Area. We’ll plan to snowshoe about 1.5 miles through the Old Orchard loop and visit the beaver pond east of M-22.
Learn about the trees, the water, and the wildlife in this unique ecosystem. We will also look for signs of life, including evidence of beaver activity and animal tracks in the snow. Come and share in a wonderful winter experience!
To access the hike: Please park along the north side of W. Fisher Street, facing west near the recycling area, west of Cherry Republic. Carry your shoes to the trail access located behind the recycling bins. Additional parking is available on S. Park Street, on the west side of the Cherry Republic building.
