Wildflower Rescue Kick-off

Wednesday, April 15th | 10:30am

Join the Leelanau Conservancy’s Wildflower Rescue Committee for our annual Kick-Off Meeting on Wednesday, April 15, 10:30 a.m. at the Old Art Building in Leland.

A short program by longtime Wildflower Rescuer Tim Bugenske will be followed by information on the spring digs, potting and annual sale by committee members.

Click the “sign up now” button above and let us know 1) if you can attend the kick-off meeting, and 2) how you are able to help rescue native plants this year. Our committee is looking for new dig sites (where we rescue plants), so please be sure to check that box if we can reach out to you!

Some things to know about the rescue/dig process:

  • We do not dig rare or endangered plants. All plants are inspected by the State Ag Dept. for disease.
  • We go into a site before roads are constructed, driveways are built, or building sites are dug.
  • The property owner’s wishes are respected, and plants that will not be destroyed are left on site, intact.

You can find more details on the Wildflower Rescue Committee here, or in this story about the committee’s enduring legacy.
