Leelanau Over the Years at Whaleback Natural Area

After a brief introduction by our docents Keith Rhodes, Bert Thomas and Julie Kuieck, we’ll make our way up a moderately inclined trail at a comfortable pace, stopping along the way to acknowledge the people who have inhabited this area. When we reach the Lake Michigan overlook, we will observe our surroundings and share information about the geology of this special place. From there we will enjoy a casual walk back down the dune but pay close attention to the sights and sounds along the trail. We will conclude our time together once back at the parking area by sharing our observations to discover how people may share perceptions or react differently to a particular natural environment.
