Houdek Dunes Lady Slipper Hike

Orchids everywhere! Over a couple thousand (all protected by law) hopefully will be blooming in great profusion at Houdek at this time. These Pink Lady Slippers (moccasin flowers) are just one of the many special features to be seen in this 370-acre natural area as we hike through several ecological communities to Houdek Creek & the wetlands
overlook. (Watch where you step!) Discover evidence of the many native Leelanau animals and plants for whom this area has been “home” for centuries and with whom we are especially fortunate to co-exist. Join docents Ann McInnis, Karl Hausler, and Mary Burton on a fun interpretive guided walk in this unique natural area.
