Harvest Moon: A celebration of local art and music

Saturday, September 10th | 4:00pm

The LC Collective presents Harvest Moon: a celebration of local art and music held at the Conservancy’s recently restored DeYoung Natural Area farmhouse.

Formed in 2022, the LC Collective is a group of young people passionate about the Leelanau Conservancy and the county. As part of the Leelanau Conservancy, the LC Collective aims to create inclusive opportunities to recreate, participate, and activate in Leelanau’s natural spaces. Join us for a special celebration of local art and music to thank the harvest moon and the season we are so grateful for here in Leelanau. The show highlights aspects of this area’s connection to the cycles of land, water, and the seasons. As our region has been one that draws creatives of every kind, the LC Collective hopes this event gives a taste of what our up-and-coming artists and musicians have to offer. Curated by Alyssa Smith and co-hosted by The Boardman Review, a portion of all art sales will benefit the Leelanau Conservancy.

Art Exhibition & Refreshments: 4-7pm
Live Music: 7-8:30pm

Live music will be outdoors. Please bring your own chairs and feel free to bring a picnic. Parking is limited, carpooling or biking in on the TART trail is encouraged! Space in the farmhouse is limited, so please RSVP to help us get an idea of how many folks to expect.

The harvest full moon invites us into equilibrium. It is the threshold between seasons and the peak of bounty. These gateways always carry a certain weight as we are never the same once they are crossed. For one night, we hang in the thin space between one and the other. The gifts that have been given are offered back as the sun starts its retreat and we, our reckoning with the dark. It does not need to be a lonesome road. Keep yourself around you and those who will lighten the way.
