Huron Pines AmeriCorps Member
We welcome Zack Pitman, who will be serving as a Huron Pines AmeriCorps Member through early November, 2018. A native of the Lansing area, Zack is happy to be living and serving in Northern Michigan. Zack is a recent graduate from the Biology Master’s program at Grand Valley State University, where he also received his B.S. in Natural Resources Management in 2016. Zack’s past experiences include working as a bird survey intern for the Land Conservancy of West Michigan, researching prairie and oak savanna restoration, and teaching biology at Grand Valley. Zack is excited to apply his experience at the Leelanau Conservancy as a Stewardship Technician assisting in the conservation and restoration of Leelanau County’s land, water, and scenic character. As part of the stewardship crew, Zack will lead volunteer groups, conduct community outreach, and contribute to restoration efforts such as invasive species control and trail maintenance. In his spare time, Zack can often be found birding, paddling, hiking, and playing board games.
