We welcome Shelly Stusick, who will be serving as a Huron Pines AmeriCorps Member through early November, 2018. Shelly is a Grand Rapids native and received her B.S. in Natural Resource Management from Grand Valley State University in 2016. Since graduating, she has taken some time to travel as well as volunteer for terrestrial and aquatic cleanups, tree plantings and local farms. Shelly will be serving the Leelanau Conservancy as a Stewardship Technician assisting in on-the-ground ecological restoration projects including invasive species management, trail maintenance, and coordinating volunteer groups to achieve this. She is particularly interested in Ecological Restoration regarding wetlands and watersheds and zealous about preserving the unique and gorgeous natural areas in Leelanau County. After spending each summer on the Leelanau and Old Mission Peninsulas as a youngster she is thrilled to be living in Suttons Bay – just miles from where her Grandpa’s cherry farm used to be. In her spare time Shelly can be found playing with her nephews, hiking, camping, and being on or in the water. She loves dogs, ferns and a good taco.
