Karen Mulvahill — President
Karen credits childhood camping trips with the start of her lifelong love affair with the outdoors. A period of living in the U.P. and backpacking at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, the Porcupine Mountains, and the Sylvania Tract reinforced that love and commitment to preserve wilderness. A chance trip to the Leelanau Peninsula in the 80s led to regular vacations and full-time residence as of 2009. She lives on Christmas Cove north of Northport, with her partner, Dan Malski, and their cat, Lydia.
Karen earned a B.Ph. from Grand Valley State University and spent most of her career in marketing, strategic planning, and market research. She is retired from Comerica, Incorporated, where she was Director of Marketing. While living in SE Michigan, she served on numerous boards, including ArtServe Michigan, Lighthouse PATH, Detroit Downtown Inc., InsideOut Literary Arts, and the Comerica Foundation. She has served on the Conservancy’s Picnic/Auction Committee for several years and says “I am honored to now serve on the Board.”
