As a child, I enjoyed camping both as a Girl Scout and with my family, mostly at State Parks across Michigan. I was introduced to Leelanau by family friends who were summer residents and felt I had found a home. After decades away, I returned on a part time basis in 2012 and quickly joined the Conservancy. Docent led hikes were my first introduction to the Natural Areas I have grown to love. I chose to become a docent in part to challenge myself to learn more about the geology, plants and animals that make this peninsula unique. I am retired from a career in healthcare and now live year round in Northport. Volunteering for the Conservancy as a docent and on numerous workbees has introduced me to some of the most wonderful people on the planet. I look forward to meeting others who love and respect the land we inhabit on future hikes and at other events.
