We welcome Andrea Hunt, who will be serving as a Huron Pines AmeriCorps Member through early November, 2018. Andrea attended Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan where she studied environmental science and water resources. After graduation, Andrea worked at the Hiawatha National Forest and Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore where she served as a visitor service specialist and environmental interpreter. After four years of exploring the wild U.P., Andrea is happy to be back in her hometown and favorite place on earth: Leelanau County. Andrea is very passionate about preserving this fresh water ecosystem and excited to learn more about the flora and fauna of the Leelanau Peninsula. Andrea will be serving at the Leelanau Conservancy as the Lead Stewardship Technician assisting in conservation efforts in the beautiful Leelanau Peninsula. As part of her service with the Leelanau Conservancy, she will coordinate volunteer groups, create interpretive guides and stewardship materials, as well as performing on the ground restoration projects including invasive species management and trail maintenance. Andrea loves to hike, camp, kayak, ski, forage for fungus, and search the forest for wildflowers and bird species.
