Stream Phosphorus 2000

This bar graph shows the average total phosphorus concentration of County streams and lake outfalls measured in 2000. The plot provides a general indication of the ranking of stream and lake outfall total phosphorus in 2000. Observe that highest stream total phosphorus was measured in Northport Creek, the lowest in Hatlem Creek. It is important to note that the concentration of total phosphorus in area streams is strongly affected by watershed runoff events that occur during summer storms and spring snow melt. Thus, stream nutrient concentrations are generally highly variable compared to lake concentrations.
