Stream Nitrate 2000
This bar graph shows the average nitrate plus nitrite concentration of County streams and lake outfalls measured in 2000. The plot provides a general indication of the ranking of stream and lake outfall nitrate plus nitrite concentrations in 2000. Observe that highest stream nitrate plus nitrite concentrations were measured in Houdek Creek, the lowest in Rice Creek. Nitrate plus nitrite concentrations above about 500 mg/m3 are often the result of the application of ammonia fertilizer to support agricultural operations. Low nitrate plus nitrite concentrations in the Crystal River are possible indication of nitrogen limited growth conditions for algae in Glen Lake.
