Snowshoe at Clay Cliffs — Saturday, January 7th 10:00 am
Clay Cliffs Natural Area should be ready for you with deep snow this January. We strike out on our snow shoes from the parking lot through a frozen wetland, pass unfrozen springs melting the snow in patches on the hill side as we climb the hill and rest with the spectacular Lake Michigan views from a platform. To the South will be the Bald Eagle’s roost which could be in inhabited. As we return through the wide and windy field, we will view a perhaps frozen Lake Leelanau and the hills beyond. No worry about picking up ticks on this trip but we may see some snow fleas! Docents Peter Wolcott, Laura Paine, Mary Petterson, and Beth Chiles will be your guides.
