Cedar River Moonrise Paddle – Wednesday, September 6 at 7pm- EVENT IS NOW FULL

September 6th, 2017 at 7:00pm —

Experience the sunset and moonrise during a quiet paddle  through one of the true wilderness areas in Leelanau, the Cedar River. Docents Ed Ketterer, Jack Dunn, and Karl Hausler will host this very popular annual event. We’ll depart at 7:00 PM from the boat launch in Cedar, where the river crosses under Kasson St. (Rte. 651), and paddle downstream for about an hour, turning back just as the sun sets and the Corn Moon is about to rise. The total time on the river will be about 2 ½ hours, and there is no place to disembark along the way. We’ll be paddling back by moonlight and will arrive back at the boat launch just as it’s becoming dark. Participants must bring their own kayak or canoe and a PFD for each person in the boat. Mosquito repellent is highly recommended, as are binoculars and a camera (with a dry bag, please!). Registration is required because this event is limited to 15 boats.
