Birding: Spring Migration at the Tip of the Peninsula — Saturday April 30th at 8:00am
Join docents Ann McInnis and Ed Ketterer as we bird the tip of the peninsula and Lighthouse West Natural Area looking for early spring migrants and other birds that already nesting. The spring migration usually unfolds in three major waves. While they are difficult to predict with precision, the first wave, with early warblers and a variety of other songbirds should be underway at this time. We’ll begin birding on Lighthouse West, at 8:00. Depending on conditions, we may also explore the woods and shore up at the Grand Traverse Lighthouse and the marsh at Leelanau State Park. Bring binoculars and your favorite field guide or birding app.
