What do Petoskey Stones tell us about Michigan? At Clay Cliffs

Saturday, June 25th | 10:00am

Get acquainted with a 350 million year old “pet” Petoskey Stone courtesy of docents who love sharing. What was Michigan like when now-fossilized coral animals lived here…or was Michigan even located here? In addition, what evidence is there of “just” a few thousand-years-ago glaciers here in Leelanau? What could over a mile thick of slow moving ice do? Join Conservancy docents Ann McInnis and Karl Hausler on a geology trek of millions of years to discover a few of the geological clues found in Leelanau that reflect its past history, and even speculate on its future due to the impacts of climate disruption.
