Birding Hike at Lighthouse West

Sunday, May 21st | 9:00am

Let’s see what birds are pushing through the area in late May.

Join docents Bert Thomas, and Sheen and Dave Watkins at 9 A.M, Sunday, May 21st at Lighthouse West Natural Area at the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula, a prime location to find birds nesting, and resting and feeding before winging north over Lake Michigan into breeding grounds in the U.P. and Canada. We will be keeping a group tally to see how many species we can find.

Binoculars are recommended. Common visitors this time of year include Rose Breasted Grosbeaks, multiple species of Warblers, Indigo Buntings, Waxwings and many others. Plus, there’s always the chance of something rare passing through, too.
