Taking a back road in Leelanau can seem like daring to go where no man has gone before. I discovered this beautiful spot some years ago, and every time I return to it I feel I’m traveling back in time to a simpler era when a farm boy might sneak away from his chores to wander down a dusty lane. I was delighted to discover that one of Leelanau’s many artists had painted this scene, and now I only have to look at the print over my fireplace mantel to trigger an imaginary walk on a lazy afternoon.
