Leslie Schmid —Secretary
Leslie and her husband, Walter, have been coming to the Leelanau Peninsula since 1980 and now call their residence in Leelanau “home.” For years before becoming residents, summers meant coming to Leelanau and introducing as many friends as possible to the delight of the region. Leslie attended Vassar College and received her MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Her professional career focused on marketing and advertising with corporations in the consumer products and business to business markets. In addition, she spent many years volunteering with several non profits. Her experience includes serving as Co-Founder and Board Chair of Pittsburgh Voyager (River Quest); Board Chair of Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild, Pittsburgh; and Vice Chair of Save the Children Fund, Australia. Additionally, she has served on the boards of the American Association of Persons with Disabilities, Brain Injury Association of America, and One Goal Graduation. Leslie and Walter have two sons, Karl and Alec, and a daughter in-law, Lain, all who treasure whatever time they can spend up in Leelanau.
