Wildlife Solstice Hike at Houdek Dunes

Saturday, June 19th | 10:00am

Join us for the first Docent-led hike of the year!

Leelanau’s Awesome Wildlife Communities

What might Leelanau’s native wildlife be doing on the brink of the longest day of the year (the solstice)?  Join Docents Ann McInnis and Beth Childs and Docent-in-training Gloria Garret to discover and experience which species are most likely found within the diversity of communities found within Houdek’s unique protected natural area…and duplicated in other Conservancy natural areas.  What are the basic requirements for survival and wildlife’s unique adaptations that made Houdek an attractive location in which to live and reproduce? We will look for evidence of bears and coyotes, along with a myriad of other animals and plants that have chosen Houdek as their home.

Due to hike topics, location and other factors, space is limited only to registrants. All attendees, including children, need to be registered in advance via the events page on our website. Registration closes 24 hours prior to event.
